I’m a licensed math educator with a background in computer science. I have my undergraduate degree in computer science from the college of engineering at Oregon State University. During my time there I was a teaching assistant for an online computer science course where I pioneered a support system for online students. I also became certified to teach a supplemental calculus course. For this course, I created lessons to teach to groups of 12-15 students in order to support them to be successful in their main calculus course. While receiving my undergraduate degree I worked at Intel part time for a little over a year as a software engineering intern. Even though I enjoyed my time as an engineer I enjoyed all of the teaching work I did even more! This led me to pursue my masters degree in teaching with a focus in mathematics from the University of Colorado. During this time I gained experience teaching both middle and high school. Upon graduation I moved back to Oregon and began teaching middle school math in Portland Public Schools. During my time teaching math in PPS I have noticed a great need for support in mathematics, especially due to gaps in knowledge from the COVID years. This has led me to transition to a substitute teacher in order to pursue tutoring so that kids can get caught up and be less stressed in the classroom.
